Motorola has reportedly locked down a release date for two new smartphones and possibly the Moto 360. The Moto G2 will become available on Sept. 10 and will be followed by the Moto X + 1 and Moto 360.
It's been a while since Motorola has released new smartphones but things are about to change. We first started hearing about the Moto X + 1 back in April, when an image of the smartphone leaked. In late July, new images of the handset appeared online and provided a closer look at the Moto X + 1's ultra thin body, metal frame, and specs.
Motorola has already confirmed that the Moto 360 smartwatch will ship later this summer. We recently reported on some of the features Motorola has built into the device.
Motorola will also launch a successor to its very popular Moto G. The smartphone has been a hit with consumers because of its relatively low price, sold unlocked or prepaid, and it's packing impressive specs for a smartphone under $200.
A new report from GSM Arena, claims that the Moto G2 will launch on Sept. 10 and the unlocked smartphone will be priced at around $330. The Motorola Moto G2 offers some nice improvements when compared to the current Moto G.
The Motorola Moto G2 will reportedly feature a 5-inch 1280 x 720 display and ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Adreno 305 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 1 GB of RAM.
Motorola has also given the Moto G2 an upgrade in the camera department. The smartphone will boast an 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front facing camera for video chat and selfies. Users will find 8 GB of internal storage and it's not clear at this point if the Moto G2 includes a microSD expansion slot.
We'll have to file this in the rumor category for now until we hear something official from Motorola. The launch date certainly coincides with reports of when the Moto X + 1 and Android Wear-based Moto 360 smartwatch are expected to be unveiled. We'll be sure to keep you posted.
