The iPhone 6 could come with a reversible USB cable when it launches in September.Apple expert Sonny Dickson posted a picture of the cable on Twitter, showing the difference between a normal cable and what is said to be the new Lightning cable.
A patent discovered by uSwitch also reinforces indications that the cable will become reversible.
The Lightning connector can already be plugged into recent iPhones and iPads in any orientation, meaning users don't have worry about the way they plug the cable in.
According to the patent, the change is being introduced to eliminate "user frustration" and "reduce the potential for USB connector damage".
A new 'type C' reversible USB cable was recently announced by the USB Promoter Group, but it will not be compatible with current USB ports, unlike Apple's solution which will work on current and future ports.
