Facebook interns make more than the national average

FB News: Facebook High School Interns Earn                  $6,000+ a Month!

High School interns working at Facebook (FB) over the summer are making a pretty penny for their time.

Facebook pays its High School interns $6,213 a month. This comes to a salary of $74,556 a year, which is $21,510 more than the average household in the U.S makes in a year, reports The New York Daily News.

The hunt for talent in Silicon Valley is likely what fuels the high pay for young interns. Of the 25 companies that pay interns the most in the U.S., 18 are located in the San Francisco Bay area.

In terms of how much a company pays interns, Facebook is actually number five in the U.S. Twitter(TWTR), Linkedin (LNKD), VMWare (VMW) and Palantir Technologies all pay their interns more than what the social media website does, The New York Daily News notes.
FB shares were up 2% as of Friday afternoon.
